Liis Leitsalu is a genetic counselor and researcher at the Estonian Genome Center of the University of Tartu since 2010. Her work at the genome center focuses on behavioral research in genomics and the ethical, legal and societal issues related to the use of genomic information generated by the genome center. She holds a PhD in Gene Technology from the University of Tartu with her thesis on “Communicating genomic research results to population-based biobank participants”, and a MSc in Genetic Counseling from Sarah Lawrence College (USA). Liis is a member of the Research Ethics Committee of the University of Tartu and a member of the ELSI working group at the European research infrastructure for biobanking, BBMRI-ERIC.
